Metro-Atlanta teacher accused of raping a student | News – Atlanta, Georgia

Atlanta, Georgia 2021-09-03 20:28:00 –

Atlanta, Georgia (CBS46)-Metro Atlanta teachers noticed that when they first appeared in Fulton County on Friday morning, they were accused of a very disturbing crime and were in front of a judge.

The hearing ended with 63-year-old Robert Vandel being denied ties.

This was after Roswell police said the teacher had raped one of the students in early 2020.

Van der was detained on Tuesday at the Lindon Academy in Holly Springs, the school where he currently works.

The arrest took place the day after investigators said a former female student from Van der at the Fulton Science and Technology Charter School had contacted police.

Officials say Vandel was hired as a science teacher at FAST in 2020, when the assault took place.

He is currently faced with many charges, including rape, exacerbation of assault aimed at raping children under the age of 14, and exacerbation of child sexual abuse.

CBS46 quickly contacted the allegations and sent a partially read statement. “This is an active investigation and is out of the consideration of the victim and his family. At this time, it is not appropriate to comment further on this unfortunate situation. Obviously, we are in the investigation. I will cooperate. “

Investigators say they believe they are probably more victims.

I can’t tell just because the investigation has progressed, and the detectives also feel the possibility, so I would like to put up a wide net so that no one will be missed.

This morning I arrived at the Lindon Academy several times about the campus arrest and Van der’s current charges, so I had no reaction. If you or anyone else you know is assaulted by Van der, Roswell police are asking you to contact them at the number 770-640-4453.
