Nashville, Tennessee (WKRN) -Metro police arrested a man accused of hitting an officer in the head in downtown Nashville.

The arrest warrant states that it took place on June 11th at about 9:30 pm at 1st Avenue South & Korean Veterans Blvd. Courtney J. Callaway walked to a traffic-controlled police officer in full uniform and asked if he had a badge.

The policeman told Callaway he did, and he was a police officer. Victims said Callaway began speaking rapidly and inconsistently. Callaway then asked something about sunflower seeds. The policeman asked what he meant and he said something about the policeman giving the children sunflower seeds.

Police then told Callaway that he had fed the birds with sunflower seeds in his home. The warrant states that Callaway swung his right fist and hit a police officer in the temple on the left.

Callaway has been charged with assault by police and remains in custody.
