Nashville (WSMV)-One was hospitalized early Monday morning after a shootout on Broadway in downtown Nashville.

According to the metro police, it happened between 3rd and 4th streets in the south after 3 am.

Two groups were involved in the controversy when one pulled out a gun and began shooting in the air, police on the scene said.

Police believe that another person in another group pulled out the gun and started shooting in the air.

It seemed that one person was hit by a bullet in a shootout. According to police, the person is at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and has a non-life-threatening injury.

More than eight bullets were fired during the incident, police said.

This is an ongoing investigation.
