Nashville, Tennessee (WSMV) – Metro police have reached Amber Alert, citing the parents of a one-year-old child left alone in a car Wednesday night.

Metropolitan police have charged 29-year-old Ruhumuriza Mukunzi, 29, and his mother, 26-year-old Nyirankumi Nyirankumi, for the danger of a child who is guilty of misdemeanor.

Metro police said the one-year-old child had returned with his parents after the Amber Alert was issued Wednesday night.

The quote comes after police say 33-year-old Brandi Rhodes stole the blue Ford Focus from Gallatin Pike’s Inglewood Kroger and ran away with it.

The Amber Alert was issued Wednesday night, but was canceled around midnight after discovering that citizens were focusing on the East Nashville Home Road. Police found 1-year-old Nolan Ishimwe safely and unharmed.

On Thursday, Metropolis released a surveillance video from Kroger’s parking lot. The woman was later identified as Rhodes and was seen walking to Focus, running, entering, and getting off at 6:19 pm.

According to police, Mukunji and Nirankumi left Kroger about 40 minutes later. Mukunji called 911 at 7:02 pm, reporting that his car and son were missing, and the first East District police officer arrived at the parking lot at 7:07 pm.

Police are still looking for Rhodes. Anyone who has information about the incident or her whereabouts will be asked to call the crime stopper at 615-742-7463.
