Nashville, Tennessee (WKRN) – Two boys were arrested after stealing a vehicle and shooting a gun near Gulch, according to a statement from metro police.
According to police, police officer Michael Burgess stopped a pickup truck tagged with Arkansas near South 12th Street and Laurel Street at around 11:10 pm for ignoring the signal.
The policeman didn’t know at the time, but the pickup truck was stolen early in the evening. It was currently driven by a 12 year old who had 14 years old as a passenger. There was also a pistol on the truck.
As the policeman approached the truck, he heard gunshots from the vehicle and asked for backup. After that, the two boys were detained.
After further investigation and interviews, the detective learned that a truck was taken from Waydoor Avenue on Friday night after the owner’s house was robbed. After the traffic stopped, 12 and 14 years old switched seats. A 14-year-old boy fired as he was about to get out of the driver’s seat.
A 12-year-old boy was detained on the passenger side and a 9 mm pistol was found on the floorboard. The 12-year-old trousers also had bullet holes. Police said they seemed to be trying to hide the gun when it fired. Police are still investigating where the gun came from.
No one was injured. The two boys were taken to jail and charged with deteriorating batteries, car theft, and illegal gun possession.
