Metropolitan Ministries desperately in need of donations to fulfill demand for Thanksgiving – Tampa, Florida

Tampa, Florida 2020-11-22 17:40:25 –

Tampa, Florida — Holidays are approaching, and more families are struggling to put food on the table for Thanksgiving feasts.

The Metropolitan Ministry said it already offers three times as much service as the entire 2019 holiday season.

They said the need was greater than it is now and expects it to be five times more than last year by Christmas.

On Sunday, they handed out food boxes to their families in a drive-up tent. They said they expect to serve thousands more in the next three days leading up to Thanksgiving.

So far, they have purchased $ 600,000 in food to serve families in need of this holiday season.

In 2019, they spent about $ 250,000 throughout Thanksgiving and the Christmas season.

“As long as fresh food comes into the tent, donations are undoubtedly declining. That’s why we’re in short supply. There are also challenges with bulk purchases. Even for us, “said Justin Burke, a metropolitan ministry.

We still have time to support and donate.

The Metropolitan Ministry is looking for all perishables, especially stuffing, yams and serials.
