Miami QB D’Eriq King to have right shoulder evaluated – Tulsa, Oklahoma

Miami quarterback D’Eriq King’s injured right shoulder was examined by a doctor on Tuesday, and Manny Diaz is confident that his starter will be able to play against FCS opponent Central Connecticut on Saturday. Said not.

“Derrick was pretty desolate,” Diaz told WQAM Radio in Miami on Monday.

King was injured on Saturday after Miami lost to Michigan 38-17. He left the game in the third quarter after Spartan linebacker Kuavalis Klauch hit his right shoulder into the turf with a tackle. After treatment, he returned and stayed in the game. His right wrist and thumb were also wrapped after the match.

“I never bet on the guy because he was already like Willis Reed’s Saturday and didn’t miss a snap back there. I didn’t think he would,” Diaz said. Said. “But obviously, I’m worried about Derrick. Derrick has experienced three physical games.”

For Sparta, King set a record for the school’s single game for completion and attempt. He completed 38 of 59 trials at 388 yards with two touchdowns and two intercepts.

King had a difficult run in terms of health. Six-year seniors spent the off-season recovering from ACL-breaking surgery at Cheez-It Bowl, which lost to Oklahoma in late December.

Diaz said his team needed more players like King.

“The guy does everything for this program. He just sacrifices himself to help us … we need to get more of it around him,” Diaz said. Told. “I think there are too many people sitting there watching Derrick and not playing with the same despair as him. I think it’s unfair to Derrick.”

If King is unable to play on Saturday, Miami (1-2) will be either a freshman Tyler Van Dyck or a freshman Jake Garcia in a red shirt against Blue Devils (1-2). Van Dyck threw three career passes, and Garcia hasn’t played yet.
