Michelle Wie West will not play in Lotte Championship at Kapolei – Honolulu, Hawaii

Honolulu, Hawaii 2021-04-11 20:02:00 –

The Lotte Championship, which moved this week, does not include 2014 champion Michelle Wie West.

A Hawaiian golfer has not attended an LPGA tour event at the Kapolei Golf Course and has announced her absence in a social media post.

“I’m sad to say I’m not going home to play at @lottechampionship this year,” Wie West said in a post. “I wish all the girls good luck next week.”

Punahou graduate Weewest returned to the LPGA Tour tournament last month and missed a cut with Kia Classic and ANA Inspiration. She hasn’t participated in tour events since the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in June 2019 because she dealt with a wrist injury before returning home. Meanwhile, she married Jonnie West in August 2019, and the couple had their daughter Makena last June.

The Lotte Championship was canceled last year due to a pandemic and returned to Kapolei on Wednesday. The tournament has been held at Ko Olina Golf Club since 2012. The tournament takes place without an audience.
