Michigan woman, 31, airlifted to safety after getting lost on Pearl City trail – Honolulu, Hawaii

Honolulu Fire Department officials today rescued a 31-year-old Michigan woman who died after hiking the Waima Norwich Trail in Pearl City.

Five HFD units with 16 personnel were dispatched. The first unit arrived at 10:08 am and walked through the locked gates of the dirt road. Another unit secured a landing zone at the top of Waimano Home Road.

The woman, who said she was injured, was confused and lost after a three-and-a-half-hour hike.

Air 3 transported two rescue workers to a remote landing area near the hiker’s location.

They hiked her, took her to a helicopter, and transported her to the landing zone at 10:58 am. She declined treatment from emergency medical services.
