Midwest City, Oklahoma (KFOR) – Midwest City will host its annual Arts Festival and Sidewalk Chalk Contest “Covered in Color” this Saturday.
Covered in Color will take place on Saturday, May 8th at Charles J. Johnson Central Park in Town Center Plaza. The park is located on SE 29th Street and Mid-America Boulevard. It is from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.
There are three categories of contests: 8-11 years old, 12-15 years old and 16 years old and over. Although registration to the contest has been closed, festival planners say there are plenty of opportunities for visitors to express their creativity during the event.
The Central Park stage will showcase art vendors and live entertainment with a variety of demonstrations of abstract art from stained glass, pottery, basket weaving and green grass.
The event will also feature a live performance of chainsaw art sculptures throughout the day. These magnificent works of art can be purchased through an on-site silent auction. The silent auction ends at 4 pm and the revenue will help cover the cost of future Covered in Color events.
Covered in Color also includes food trucks, free activities, and special character visitors to take pictures.
Visitors and participants can park at Town Center Plaza and admission is free.
