Anaheim (CBSLA) — Angels Mike Trout and Dodgers Mookie Betts were among the winners of the Silver Slugger Awards announced by Major League Baseball on Friday.
Awards determined by MLB coaches and managers are given annually to the most aggressive players in each position in both the American League and the National League.
The 29-year-old Trout is the youngest player in history to win the Silver Slugger Award eight times. He is tied to Manny Ramirez, the second most outfielder in history, chasing only 12 Barry Bonds.
Betts, who hit a home run to ensure that the Dodgers won the World Series for the first time in 32 years, won the Silver Slugger Award for the fourth time. He is the sixth player in franchise history to win the Gold Glove and Silver Slugger Awards in the same season.
