Lake Worth, Texas (AP) — A military trainer crashed near Fort Worth, Texas on Sunday, injuring two pilots and damaging three homes.

Officials said at a news conference that both pilots managed to jump out of the plane before crashing on Lake Worth, just west of Fort Worth.

“The incident could have been worse,” said Lakeworth Fire Chief Ryan Arthur about the crash. Authorities were warned shortly before 11:00 am.

Police chief JT Nanoushagian said one pilot’s parachute was entangled in power lines and both were being treated for injuries.

He said people living in three damaged homes would be evacuated due to the crash.

The neighborhood is near the Naval Air Base Joint Reserve Base. Officials said several military representatives were at the crash site.
