Millersville, TN (WTVF) — It was an afternoon of car, dining and fun at the Highland Rim Speedway in Millersville. All of these helped support first responders in need.

Firefighter Joshua Palmer was injured in a logging accident during his daytime work. Despite the high costs of the injury, his close community gathered to help firefighters pay off his medical bills.

Locals enjoyed silent auctions, food and car shows to make money.

“Everything that is happening in the world is humble, and it’s a kind of relief to see people get together for strangers,” said Brandon Head, the town’s fire chief.

The organizers believe they have raised over $ 6,000 for Palmer.
