On Tuesday, the Milwaukee Commission submitted a bill advancing plans to build a 32-story, $ 140 million skyscraper in District 3 of the city.

Hines acquisition Propose construction A residential tower in a parking lot adjacent to Milwaukee Public Market on Northwater Street and East St Paul Avenue. The city’s zoning and neighborhood development committee unanimously passed a resolution to approve the tower’s zoning changes during the meeting on Tuesday, and passed a resolution approving the city’s riverwalk changes to the west of the tower. The project still requires full common council approval.

Hines Managing Director Tom Darcy said the location of the project along the route of Milwaukee’s tram, The Hop, is an attractive location for residents seeking a dense urban environment. The tower has about 300 apartments, with 15,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor and a multi-storey car park with about 400 stalls.

“It’s still a vehicle-driven market, but I think it’s a street car, a bridge to the future,” Darcy said.

Hines will begin construction of the project in May next year and hopes to complete the tower in about 22 months. Developers do not seek public incentives for their projects. In other words, when the tower is built, it will play a tax role in the city. Architects Solomon Cordwell Buents designed the project.
