Minnesota man dies in apparent hunting accident in Wisconsin

Saxons, Wisconsin — Officials say a man in Minnesota was shot dead in an apparent hunting accident in northwestern Wisconsin.

According to the Iron County Sheriff’s Office, the dispatcher received a call in the town of Saxon just before 5 pm on Tuesday. The caller reported an accidental release of a firearm, seriously injuring a man.

When the responders arrived at the scene, they tried to revive a 65-year-old man, but failed. KBJR-TV reported that the victim was sentenced to death at the scene.

The Saxons are about 95 miles (153 kilometers) east of Duluth, Minnesota.

The case is under investigation.
