Minnesota Congressman Cedric Frazier, DFL-New Hope, announced on Tuesday that he would not run for Hennepin County lawyer.

Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced 3 weeks ago Frazier’s name was among many that emerged as a potential alternative, as he would not seek reelection. Online speculation continued about the potential Frazier candidates as several local leaders announced their interest in the post.

Frazier rested those rumors on Tuesday, stating in writing that he wouldn’t run.

“I believe we need elected leaders to work on reforming public security and criminal justice at the federal, state, county, and city levels,” Frazier said. “I am very grateful to everyone who contacted me, but after careful consideration, I came to the conclusion that 2022 is not the right time to look for a Hennepin County lawyer’s office.”

“We are committed to public security and justice, and we will continue to strive to advance these important goals in the state legislature,” Frazier said.
