The previous story below:
Sacramento County (CBS13) – A desperate search is underway in Sacramento County. Searchers are doing everything they can to help their loved ones find a missing man with a history of Alzheimer’s disease.
The 71-year-old wife of John Torgerson reported that he had gone missing near 2200 blocks on the Garden Highway Wednesday afternoon and did everything in his power to take him home. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office has launched an air operation, including a drone, after a ground search team warned neighbors and nearby businesses.
Thursday was a long and hot day for searchers and their families searching the Garden Highway near Discovery Park.
“We were out all night. He wasn’t found and didn’t look good,” said Tolgerson’s sister Sarah Lauret. “If I don’t find him to lose, it will be my first brother, and it’s difficult. I don’t think I’m ready enough.”
Lauret is determined to find her brother. She is worried because Tolgerson has late dementia.
“Time matters, right? The longer you spend, the less chance you have,” said family Charles Torgerson.
The family tells CBS13 that Torgerson also has heart disease and is not taking any medication.
“He doesn’t know much. Don’t know where he lives. He really doesn’t know who he’s married to. Sometimes he doesn’t know us,” Lauret told CBS13. I got married. “We just want him to go home.”
“That is, are you sad to know? If it were my family, I would really get angry about it,” said fisherman Luis Barrera.
Torgarson went missing not far from the Sacramento River. Fishermen like Valera are now on the alert to find him.
“I have a grandfather, and it really goes home. If he goes missing, I’ll be really a little crazy. I really hope they find him.” Valera said.
“Of course, that’s what we do all day and we’ll notify people, so if a miracle causes him to lie or fall somewhere … call 9-1-1.” Said Charles Torgerson.
Tolgerson was finally seen wearing a pink polo shirt, followed by a yellow sweatshirt and blue jeans. My family is exhausted, but I haven’t given up.
“You know that miracles can happen. Strange things happen. You just want the best,” said Charles Torgerson.
Tolgerson wears a necklace with his information in light of his history with Alzheimer’s disease. The sheriff’s office says they will continue their search until they have exhausted all their leads and efforts.
