Virginia Beach, Virginia (WAVY) — A group of mothers is on a mission.

They help people start with their right foot as they leave the homeless shelter.

Volunteers gathered at Bellamy Woods Park in Virginia Beach on Saturday.

Volunteers packed their laundry baskets with basic household essentials, from sheets and blankets to cleaning supplies and toiletries. There are not many families leaving the shelter.

Mission moms partner with local shelters to provide essentials for those migrating from the homeless and to start in a new home.

“Many families have escaped from the homeless, perhaps carrying only their clothes and falling into shelter situations, often leaving without doing anything more,” said mission mom Maggie Joe Kasbah. Told.

According to a Facebook post, they were able to pack household essentials for their families into 26 baskets.

“It’s such a pleasure to see a family teach their children to give back,” the post read.

Mission moms say handing out baskets is one of the little ways to help people recover.
