NS. Louis (KMOV.com)-Missouri reported the first case of an omicron coronavirus variant on Friday.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services said a sample of Omicron variants from residents of the city of St. Louis, who recently traveled the country, was presumed to be positive. The health department is waiting for the CDC to confirm the sample.

The World Health Organization said Omicron is a variant of concern because of its mutagenic potential.

“There’s still a lot to learn about this new variant, but we know that the best tool currently available to protect yourself from COVID-19 is personal prevention. Asks DHSS for information about the Omicron variant and seeks a reliable source of medical information against social media, “said Donald Kauelauf.
