Nashville, Tennessee (WKRN) – Metro police arrested three men after an undercover investigation into the sale of fentanyl-contaminated drugs in downtown Nashville.
After an undercover investigation, the detective arrested Karil Smith, 26, Nesean Thompson, 22 and Michael Terry, 26, on Friday night.
During the operation, Operation Michael met a masked investigator near the Hall of Fame Park and called for delivery of cocaine, according to Metro police. According to officials, Smith and Thompson arrived at the scene, and Smith sold three grams of detective white powder for $ 200.
Police then moved in for arrest, saying Smith and Thompson tried to escape the scene but were soon arrested. Metro police said he was detained after Terry tried to leave the scene in the other direction. Terry is in a metro prison with a $ 15,000 bond.
At the scene, police recovered 11 grams of white powder tested positive for fentanyl, a bag of white rock tested positive for cocaine, 23 Xanax bars, and 21 grams of marijuana, all from Khalil Smith. Authorities say the powder Smith sold the masked detective was also tested positive for fentanyl. Smith is detained in Metro Prison with a $ 100,000 bond.
Nesean Thompson has three bags of white powder weighing a total of 7 grams and has been tested positive for fentanyl. According to Metro police, Thompson was also provided with six felony-related assault warrants related to the shooting on April 24. Thompson has been detained in Metro Prison for a $ 377,500 bond.
According to Metro police, the undercover investigation is responding to a recent drug overdose incident in the downtown area of Nashville.
