Nashville, Tennessee (WTVF) — Metro Nashville Public School launched its largest ever summer program on Monday. Over 15,000 students participate in the Promising Scholars Summer Program.

This is an opportunity for students to catch up with their studies before the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year.

According to a Metro Schools spokeswoman, Promising Scholars’ new summer program offers enrolled students a fun, free and academically fulfilling experience. Each summer camp offers a combination of classroom learning, including science, technology, artistic and physical activity.

This program is offered in half a day from kindergarten to 8th grade and from 9th to 12th grade while attending school.

Makeda Watson, School District’s Extended Learning Coordinator, states that the program will allow students to continue to grow and take on academic challenges.

“This will be fun and fascinating. It’s not how you think about summer schools and summer programming in the past. Partners,” Watson said.

The application deadline for the program has passed, but high school students must apply for credit collection by this weekend. The summer program also provides students with meals and baths.
