Nashville (WSMV)-A 54-year-old mother of three boys refused to stop when she was diagnosed with aggressive triple-negative breast cancer.
Jennifer Rhodes wasn’t ready to slow her life right away. Her family had no history of cancer, and Rose was shocked and devastated by her diagnosis.
“Complete shock mode,” Rose said when discussing the diagnosis. “My youngest child was preparing to graduate from high school in high school, so I told Dr. Park.” August is a really busy month for me. Can I wait and start in September? ” He looked at me and said, “I’m trying to save your life,” and … only that hugeness really touched me. “
Rose’s chemotherapy session began immediately. Now, with some treatment and surgery behind her, she explained the stress and anxiety from all traumas.
“The emotional part is really difficult,” Rose said. “I … still deal with it.”
An emotionally true struggle, Rose strives hard every day to have a positive outlook. She finds support through the organization Breast Cancer Recovery Practice (BRA)..
“No one should develop cancer on their own,” said BRA Nancy Brown’s managing director. “There are other women’s support groups and you need that support group other than your family and friends who are there for you but are there for you, but what to say, what I’m not sure if I’ll do it. “
This group provides emotional, mental and physical support. Rose said this support was very important in her life.
“It’s about teaching people how to take that moment of awakening and starting to understand the importance of self-care. That’s how you do it,” Brown said. “And after your diagnosis, it can be done safely.”
“I don’t know if you’re having a bad day because you’re with a woman who understands what you’re experiencing,” Rose said. If you need to talk, they Listens and provides support and encouragement. “”
