Equity futures remained largely unchanged on Monday night after a sleepy trading day as investors waited for key inflation data to be released later in the week.

Futures related to the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.01%. S & P 500 futures and Nasdaq 100 futures were also close to the flat line.

In regular trading on Monday, all three major averages ended slightly higher. The Dow finished the day with about 16 points, or less than 0.1%, after jumping more than 300 points earlier in the day. The S & P 500 rose 0.3% and the high-tech Nasdaq Composite index rose 0.4%.

The index returned most of its early profits of the day as the Treasury yield jumped to 3% for 10 years and reached its highest level in almost a month.

Stock Selection and Investment Trends from CNBC Pro:

Monday’s sentiment has subsided significantly, US economic data have not been released, and the Fed has been quiet during the blackout period. There was no financial report for a major company.

Investors are assessing whether the recent stock price rebound is a recovery in the bear market or whether the market has bottomed out from this year’s sales.

“Since the beginning of this year, we’ve had altitude sickness in multiples of the rating,” said Ed Yardeni, president of Yardeni Research. He is on CNBC’s “Closing bell: Overtime.. “

“Clearly, the market was overvalued, benefiting from wisdom,” he said. “Most of it was in negative cap sheets, big cap names, and affiliates. I think we’ve seen a big fix in that area, and now the problem is that the market accepts the earnings expectations that analysts expect. Is it possible? Offer and whether those expectations are correct. “

Investors are still chasing a week of light profits for the company. JM Smucker, United Natural Foods and Cracker Barrel will all report before the bell on Tuesday.

In economic data, the CPI measurement in May is a big one that investors are paying attention to and will be released on Friday. As expected, if the readings are lower than the April readings, some can interpret it as a sign that inflation has peaked.
