Phoenix (AP) — Arizona health officials reported 1,508 new COVID-19 cases and one more death on Sunday.
It was the longest since the beginning of March, with more than 1,000 cases for 7 consecutive days.
Since the pandemic began over a year ago and killed 18,171 people, the latest figures have pushed the state’s total to 917,168 coronavirus cases.
On Saturday, Arizona reported 1,528 new cases and 26 more deaths. Health officials said unvaccinated people accounted for almost all serious illnesses, with increasing hospitalizations associated with COVID-19.
Since March, fully unvaccinated people have accounted for 98% of deaths and 94% of hospitalizations.
Those who are not fully vaccinated account for 89% of previous cases.
