Albuquerque, New Mexico (KRQE) – Albuquerque police report that a motorcyclist was injured and died after an accident early Saturday morning in the southwestern part of the town. Around 2 am, APD responded to a motorcycle call that collided with a sedan at the intersection of 98th Avenue and Tower Road southwest.
Officials say the sedan moved south on the 98th and turned to Demi Road to the east. The sedan reportedly turned to the front of the motorcyclist and the motorcycle collided with the vehicle. Police say the motorcyclist was kicked out of the motorcycle and wasn’t wearing a helmet. The motorcyclist was taken to the University of New Mexico Hospital and died of an injury.
Police say the sedans stayed on the scene and cooperated with the officers. The sedan is sealed because it may obtain a search warrant.
This is an ongoing investigation. At this time, police believe that motorcycle speed and improper driving are the causes of the collision. Authorities say alcohol does not seem to be a factor. This is a developing story and News 13 will provide updates as it becomes available.
