Crash under investigation
Portland, Oregon (KOIN) — A woman at La Center riding a motorcycle in Ridgefield late Saturday night was struck a killed by a car and died, according to Washington State Police.
As the two motorcycles were driving north on Interstate 5 around 11:00 pm, they approached a slow-moving vehicle and lost control. One of the motorcycles collided with the back of the car and rolled over his right shoulder. Another rider, later identified as Leslie M. Eckman, collided with a car, stopped in the left lane, and was struck by another car.
Eckman, 41, was confirmed dead at the scene.
WSP said both riders are wearing helmets.
The surviving motorcyclists were taken to a nearby hospital, but their condition is unknown. WSP said the charges against the surviving rider, 41-year-old La Center’s Chris Sombunvong, are pending.
The drivers of the two separate cars involved in the incident were not injured and no charges were reported.
The crash is still under investigation.
