Las Vegas (KTNV) — NV Energy turned off Mount Charleston just before 2am on Thursday.
Currently, there are 457 customers who are not powered.
NV Energy has previously warned residents that a shutdown may be required to prevent wildfires.
This is called the Public Safety Outage Management event and occurs when it is very hot, very dry and windy. It is not uncommon for NV Energy to shut down power in the event of a wildfire condition.
The drive-through resource center will be available to residents during the PSOM event.
The Resource Center is open from 6 pm to 8 pm and is open today at the retreat at Charleston Peak on Kyle Canyon Road until 8 pm.
Power will be restored around 10 am. No other outages are planned today, according to NVEnergy.
