San Bernardino County, California (KTLA) – Firefighters responded to multiple boats firing on a lake in San Bernardino County, California, Friday morning.
According to the San Bernardino County Fire Department, after receiving a call about smoke and fire at the Arrowhead Lake dock, the crew arrived around 4 am and found a boat in flames that could spread to the dock. I did.
The crew staffed a nearby fireboat to fight the flames from the ship’s platform.
The flames burned some of the boat’s dock lines, leaving them free to float in the lake while the fire was on.
Firefighters needed to enclose the burning boat, extinguish the flames, and then spread elsewhere, causing further havoc, officials said.
“boat [and] Dock fires pose a danger to firefighters. Fireboats are an important resource for controlling fires, as both can sink, “a fire department official said in a news release.
According to the fire department, it took about 20 minutes to extinguish the fire.
Seven boats were destroyed and five more were damaged. The dock was also severely damaged.
The crew spent hours overhauling and rescue operations after extinguishing the flames. The dangerous goods crew also had to respond to the scene to check for liquids and other dangerous goods leaking into the lake.
Images shared by the fire department show a raging flame from a boat as a firefighter uses a hose to extinguish a fire.
In the aftermath, I could see the dock and some wild boars burning badly.
Authorities said the cause of the fire was under investigation and details were not readily available.
