The Georgia Supreme Court has overturned the conviction of murder and child atrocities against a man who died after his infant son had been in a hot car for hours.

In the opinion of the Georgia Supreme Court released Wednesday, the jury saw evidence of “very unreasonable disadvantage.” Justin Ross Harris, 41, was convicted in November 2016 on eight charges, including a malicious murder due to the death of his 22-month-old son Cooper.

The judge sentenced him to life imprisonment without parole and another 32 years in prison for other crimes. The High Court upheld Harris’ conviction for three sex crimes committed against a 16-year-old girl that Harris did not appeal to.

Harris’ lawyer Carlos Rodriguez said his client was innocent.

“From day one, Ross was innocent, and the strategy of portraying Ross as a philanthropist or a dishonest person to his wife had nothing to do with his love for Cooper,” he told WGCL-TV. ..
