Albuquerque, New Mexico (KRQE) – One of the most popular summer events in the old town is back. In the summer music of the old town, local live musicians perform at the plaza, and shoppers and visitors enjoy the night.

Music ranges from mariachis to jazz to country, all aimed at enhancing the atmosphere of the square. Many of the spectators were listening to music and shopping near the square, wandering in a happy surprise. “We were traveling around town and wanted to stop and listen to great music,” said the visitor. “Perfect weather, great music, great atmosphere-it’s a really fun surprise.”

It was a free, child-friendly event, so families came to visit. “They just love to go out and hang out and we like traditional music, so it’s a great day to go out and hang out and see our city.” One family said.

An Albuquerque woman worried about the return of live music in the square. “I’ve been complaining about the lack of music in the old town for a year and a half. I saw this start again this month, printed out the schedule, ran around, gave it to everyone, and jumped up and down.” She said. “It’s the best part of Albuquerque for me.”

Live musicians are lined up to perform every weekend until September. A complete list of dates and performers Albuquerque City Arts and Culture Website..
