Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (WBTW) — Captain Ben Boyle flew hundreds of missions on a C-130 aircraft with the US Air Force. In his recent developments, he had a specific American flag on every mission.
Reason? It will belong to someone who will soon go home.
“He’s a very special guy, an incredible leader, and I have a lot of respect for him,” Boyle said. “So, while I was getting ready to go, I knew immediately.” As soon as I got there, the flag was in my bag and every time for him. I’m on an airplane. “
This flag was for Steve Ghidella, owner of Rip Tydz in Myrtle Beach. While deployed, Boyle and his crew keep the flag with them while performing their mission and know when they will return .. They give them to someone special to them. Give the flag.
“To fly them .. it shows that we are always thinking about you and bringing some of your energy to us,” Boyle said. “It really helps us stay calm and focused while doing what we are doing.”
But it wasn’t just the flag that Boyle always had. He wore a Myrtle Beach Pelican hat and flew all missions.
“I took a small house home and thought it was better than having its good beach energy and the victorious energy that Pelicans love to bring.”
Boyle said that while he and his crew were grateful to those who were grateful for their service … the real hero would never go home.
“When we get home, many people often call us heroes,” Boyle said. “I don’t know how grateful we are, but that really makes a lot of sense. We’re not heroes. I’m not a hero. A hero is someone who has never been home. A hero is one of them. It gave everything, and it’s a sacrifice that I can’t even understand.
“I? I’m just a beach bum and have a timeless passion for flight. That’s it.”
