Las Vegas (KLAS) — NASCAR is back on the Speedway this weekend, and they are allowed to have a full stand for the first time in over 18 months.

In fact, there will be a three-day playoff race on the Speedway starting Friday night. The Las Vegas Motor Speedway expects more than 100,000 fans throughout the weekend and there are no vaccine or mask requirements on the stand.

Several experiences are back, including a neon garage where fans interact with drivers. For fans, NASCAR weekends are family time.

“I’ve been doing this since I was little. Now he’s doing it with the kids. I flew here from Tennessee last night,” says singer John Hance. “This is the best part about this. We had a good time camping,” Hans added.

Locally-born Matt Jaskol is the first professional to race in NASCAR. He got a spectacular entrance planned for the Saturday race. He parachutes from a helicopter from 5000 feet during a driver’s introduction and goes straight to the car to race.

The track race starts on Friday night. The Xfinity series will be on Saturday and the South Point 400 will be on Sunday.
