“If the sun hadn’t risen, we would probably have hit him by accident,” said passenger Landon Little. “He swam for 7 hours.”

“He swam just 14 miles,” added passenger Harper Kunas.

They said the man overboard was perfectly fine, even after swimming in open water for seven hours.

“He’s not tired, he’s not out of breath,” said passenger Griffin Redington. “Similarly, it was crazy.”

“He didn’t seem to have done anything wrong with him,” added his first companion, Spencer Davis. “He was excited to see us.”

The man was not physically suffering, but he was grateful to the crew.

“He wanted to go fishing with us, but the Coast Guard had to pick him up,” said passenger Austin Rygle.

The USCG said they picked up the captain from a good Samaritan and safely brought him back to Fiona Leone.

Those who turned from hockey players to heroes said a fishing trip in New Beginning would be a lifetime memory.

“First fishing trip, find a guy … at least we caught something big,” Little laughed.
