Nashville, Tennessee (WSMV)-A year after unimaginable sadness, a family in Nashville is reversing their work through adoption. They are calling on the community to help them and at the same time give back.

A little over a year ago, a broken heart struck a family in Nashville.

“It was the hardest thing we’ve ever done,” said Daniel Box.

Daniel and Brittany Box welcomed the twins of a boy named Audrick and a girl named Serra last September. However, Serra died shortly after birth.

“Before children are born, you always have hope and dreams for them,” Brittany said. “We see Audrick doing things, and sometimes I imagine what his sister would be like here.”

There are currently six boys in the box, but their hearts are still craving for little girls. The couple does not want to experience another pregnancy and is looking to adoption. But they said adoption was expensive. They said they were looking at a cost of about $ 40,000 to $ 60,000.

They started GoFundMe to raise money, but they said they didn’t just want a handout. Every time Brittany makes a donation, he knits a hat to donate to a local foster child. She has made 150 hats so far. The couple said that knitting a hat is therapeutic, as they wait for another little girl throughout this difficult year.

“I don’t think adopting a baby girl will replace the baby girl we lost, but it gave us some hope,” Brittany said. rice field.

The couple said their daughter died of a hereditary disease called trisomy-18. They said the adoption was approved and that it was a home study awaiting a match with a future daughter.
