Raleigh, North Carolina (WSPA) – The North Carolina Department of Health and Welfare has partnered with the state-wide health system, community health departments, and community health centers on Thursday to provide large-scale community vaccines for those currently eligible for vaccination. According to a news release, health officials estimate that more than 45,000 vaccines will be given to the event.

“The state will continue to help local health departments and hospitals shoot weapons faster,” said MD Cohen, MD, MD, NCDHHS. “These partners were chosen because we were able to rapidly increase the number of vaccines we could offer as part of this effort.”

According to the release, partners were selected based on their ability to administer a large number of vaccines or to provide access to the vaccine to marginalized communities.

NCDHHS officials said in the release that North Carolina Emergency Management and National Guard are supporting the location of the designated event.

  • Pitt County: Vidant Health
  • Wake County: UNC REX Healthcare, Duke Raleigh Hospital, and WakeMed are affiliated with community-based physician practice, Advance Community Health, Neighborhood Health and more.

According to the release, vaccines will be distributed by appointment in some locations.
