Omaha, Nebraska (KMTV)-Soldiers on the Nebraska Patrol arrested a Bellevue man early Thursday after chasing a stolen vehicle that crossed the border between Nebraska and Iowa many times.
Nebraska Patrol said he was informed that a car driven by 34-year-old Christopher Holsten had escaped from the Council Bluffs police station’s transportation stop shortly after 2 am and was heading for Nebraska on Interstate 480. I did.
The Troopers said Horsten was driving 81 mph in the 50 mph zone of the I-480 when he entered Nebraska.
The Troopers said they tried to stop the traffic, but the car accelerated to over 100 mph and fled the I-480 south.
According to the trooper, the car entered Interstate 80 and headed east towards Iowa.
At that point, the soldiers stopped pursuing at the Iowa border and were taken over by Council Bluffs police. They were able to deploy spike strips to slow down the car, but police said it returned to Nebraska on the I-80.
The trooper then chased the car again as he turned north on the I-480, exiting the road near the Martha Street exit and starting driving.
The trooper was able to perform a tactical vehicle intervention to stop the car on the 28th and near Harney. According to soldiers, Holsten fled on foot, climbed the fence and fled towards I-480. He was located on the Farnam Bridge and was detained.
He was charged with arrest, deliberate reckless driving, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug-related equipment, theft by receiving more than $ 5,000 of stolen goods, obstruction of police officers, drunk driving, and flight to avoid traffic violations.
