ST. Louis (KMOV.com)-Toddlers were grazed with bullets in three shootings in southern St. Louis on Saturday evening.

A St. Louis police official said the three had arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound. One of them was a 2-year-old boy who suffered a threat-free grazing injury. At the time of the shooting, the boy was playing with a 23-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman in a bounce house in Block 3,900, Virginia. The woman also grabbed her arm. Authorities said.

A 17-year-old boy was also shot in his legs, arms and abdomen while walking on Virginia Avenue. He was conscious and breathing. Edna Kemp said he lived a few yards from where the shooting took place and pulled him into the neighborhood to find the entire street blocked by criminal tape.

“There was a car with a bullet hole in front of my house, a car parked next to me, a window shot through, and a front window shot through,” Kemp said.

Other neighbors tell News 4 that the group was hosting a party in the middle of the street where the bounce house was. One man called the police and said he complained twice earlier in the day. He said the officer had arrived and left after a while. Around 5 pm, another neighbor said he had heard at least 12 gunshots. He said he went out to find dozens of officers and shattered glass in the middle of the street.

Kemp, especially as a grandmother, said shooting was horrifying. Her 5-year-old granddaughter Hope also lives with her and loves to play outside. To be on the safe side, Kemp said he plans to play in the backyard most of the spring and summer.

“I don’t want her to be a victim. If we survive a year of the virus and she’s not sick, go back to direct learning and I’ll seize the opportunity because no one knows I’m not, “Kemp said. “In a fierce debate, no one knows who hit who when the bullet flew. I don’t think I was going to hit the kid yesterday, but that happened.”

News 4 has contacted the St. Louis City Police Department for up-to-date information on the victim’s condition, but is still waiting for a response.
