Corpus Christi, Texas — The family of Manuel Dominguez, senior police officer at the Corpus Christi Police Department, is seeking privacy at this time, but some of his neighbors were happy to share their heartfelt words.

“I’ve been here since I was eight and he’s always here and very friendly,” says neighbor Nicole Garcia.

Dominguez is recovering in the ICU of Spawn Shoreline Hospital after being shot several times in an incident in a southern apartment on Wednesday afternoon. His suspect, 20-year-old Joshua Powell, was arrested Thursday afternoon, a short distance from where the incident happened the day before.

“He reassures our neighborhood.” Garcia said, “He reassures us just by being here all the time.”

Assistance to cops is shown throughout the coastal bend.

“He’s just a nice guy. A neighbor, Charles Etheredge, who lives down the street from a policeman, said,” I always have kind words and always have time to greet. He gets well and prays. I will give it to you. ”

Mayor Paulette Guajard said Dominges is a 20-year veteran of local police and is involved in ICT. Spawn Shoreline Hospital and Corpus Christi Police Station do not provide up-to-date information on his condition at this time.

“He has a child and a beautiful wife. I hope he gets well and recovers,” Garcia says.
