Charlotte, NC (FOX 46) – Neighbors call it a tough Christmas as police are investigating the shootings of two teenagers.
“I was wrapping gifts last night and heard a series of shots,” Ariana Hull said.
A tape of crime scenes surrounding a road sign where police spent most of the night investigating Old Savannah Road.
“We kept listening to more and more police cars, sirens, ambulances, fire trucks, and the entire street … probably like a mile-long police car,” said neighbor Hull.
Ariana Har lives a few doors below the house where the shooting took place. According to police, three were gunshot wounds and the fourth was torn. Police later said two teenagers had died.
One is 16-year-old Catherine Lopez Cruz and the other is 13-year-old Michelle Robles.
“The first thing I thought was … is my baby safe, and are we safe? All alone … it was so unknown last night. I don’t know exactly what’s going on, so I went to bed I had a little trouble, “Hull said.
Several neighbors say they had a Christmas Eve party at home and seemed to be doing well until around 11pm. At that time, neighbors say they heard gunshots and the sound of glass breaking several times.
“I heard there were a lot of people … that’s what a lot of people are saying in our neighborhood Facebook group,” Hull said.
“My heart is really directed at them. As a mom, I can’t even imagine what I have to deal with,” she said.
Police are still investigating the cause of the shooting.
