Carson City, Nevada (AP) — Health authorities in Nevada have reported more than 2,000 new COVID-19 cases for the second consecutive day.
They said the 2,155 cases confirmed on Sunday increased the state’s total to 133,888 cases since the pandemic began.
Six coronavirus-related deaths were reported on Sunday, pushing the known death toll to 2,017.
On Saturday, health officials reported 29 deaths and 2,019 new cases for the second consecutive day.
The number of infections is considered to be much higher because many people have not been tested, and studies show that people can get the virus without feeling sick.
For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms such as fever and cough, which heals in a few weeks.
However, it can cause more serious illnesses, such as pneumonia and death, for some people, especially the elderly and those with existing health problems.
