Las Vegas (KLAS) — Friday is one year after Governor Steve Sisolak declared a state of emergency.
Currently, Republicans in Carson City are trying to clarify the legislation that empowers men or women in their position.
If the state of emergency lasts more than 15 days, Parliamentary Bill 93 requires legislative approval.
One of the bill’s sponsors said this was a nonpartisan issue and did not correspond to what Governor Sisorak had done.
“By the law we have, it’s his job to dive into our emergency orders, so if you think about it, we actually put the governor in this predicament.” Said Congressman Jim Wheeler. “There was a problem, let’s fix it.”
The bill is unlikely to move forward as the Democratic Party controls the legislature.
