EUREKA COUNTY0 (KTNV) — On the morning of June 16, a road crew was working on State Highway 278 near Eureka County when a man in a passing car shot and beat a worker.
The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) said the SR278 section when the Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) Trooper, which was traveling north, saw a white ram freight van traveling south at high speed. Was being renovated.
NHP says he later learned that the Lamb driver had shot multiple shots at an NDOT employee and beat him several times.
Trooper says he provided medical assistance and traveled south to find a vehicle.
Additional troopers and members of the Eureka County Sheriff’s Office have placed the vehicle approximately 35 miles north of Eureka.
According to officials, the vehicle was successfully stopped by a tire bleeder and eventually stopped at Mile Marker 27, north of the Garden Pass.
When the suspect got out of the car, he began firing at law enforcement agencies, NHP said.
After an hour of standoffs, with the help of many law enforcement agencies, the suspect was near the van and suffered from a gunshot wound.
The adult male suspect was transferred from the scene and injured after a while.
NDOT employees have been taken from the field to a local hospital and are still in a stable condition.
No one was injured in this incident. At the time of this media release, State Highway 278 remains closed from US-50 to the Eureka / Elko County Line.
There are no prominent suspects and no risk to the general public. Additional details and the identity of the suspect will be announced in the coming days.
