New beauty salon shines light on Black-owned businesses in North Las Vegas – Las Vegas, Nevada

North Las Vegas (KTNV) — August is dedicated to celebrating black-owned businesses.

The new wig salon owner plans a grand opening in North Las Vegas on Saturday and shares her journey to success.

Haith and Henry Johnson, owners of Le’Host Hair & Wigs, are growing their business rapidly. However, they encountered difficulties along the way.

The two began their journey more than 20 years ago.

“I had a girlfriend and was diagnosed with cancer by the age of 27,” Hythe said. of her trip? ”

The two say they were lucky to grow the business together. But when the pandemic hit, they found themselves in an unimaginable place.

“We closed the door and couldn’t let people in,” Henry said. “We had to pivot from just a storefront, but now it’s online as well as storefront.”

During the pandemic, the couple said they were given the opportunity to pitch their hair care products to Walmart, and they did.

They were refused, but decided to try again and were successful.

“We applied again. They said yes,” said Heiss. “They gave us 400 of his stores and now he has two products nationally in over 25 states.”

The grand opening of Le’Host Hair & Wigs will take place Saturday at 1pm at Walmart (807 W. Craig Rd., North Las Vegas, NV 89032).
