Pigeon Forge, Tennessee (Wate) – Dolly Parton and Dollywood Theme Park management announced Friday an investment in the largest attraction in the park’s history. This is a brand new roller coaster that will be the largest in the park when it opens in the spring.

The $25 million “Big Bear Mountain” roller coaster opens in Spring 2023, $500 million park expansion announced for 2021The vehicle boasts three different launches, a 3,990 foot track and extends Wildwood Grove Section of a park with six acres of attractions.

The coaster reaches speeds of up to 48 miles per hour and altitudes of up to 66 feet, with a short underground bend through the wildwood grove around the falls. It is the first Dollywood His ride to feature his audio onboard with music and narration by Wildwood Grove’s fictional caretaker Ned Oakley.

The roller coaster lasts about two minutes and carries 20 passengers per train. Minimum height requirement for passengers is 39 inches.

“Isn’t that kind of fun?” Dolly Parton said in the announcement, wearing a rhinestone park ranger costume.

The launch of the new ride in the spring of 2023 is Hartsong Lodge, Dollywood’s newest resort.

According to a case study published last year by the Tennessee Department of Transportation, Dollywood delivers an annual economic impact of $1.8 billion. There are also over 23,000 jobs recognized in the region.
