New Franklin concert venue brings heavy traffic congestion – Nashville-Davidson, Tennessee

Franklin, TN (WKRN) — FirstBank Amphitheatre hosted its first concert in Franklin on Tuesday, starring country stars Maren Morris, Thomas Rhett, Florida Georgia Line and others.

However, the main event was to arrive at the new venue, as traffic was backed up for at least two miles.

“I thought it was a big problem, so I was waiting for Life Flight or something to come,” said neighbor Scott Morriss.

Morris lived near the amphitheater and was caught in a crowd on his way home. He says his concerns grew when he saw the behavior of concert attendees waiting in the traffic.

“You are people cutting through people’s neighborhoods. You have people, but there have been reports that you actually have to use the toilet, but I understand that. They are outside. Go out and use the toilet in a person’s garden. It’s their private property, “Morris said.

Morris does not believe that the Thompson’s Station infrastructure can handle a 7,500-seat venue.

“As you might imagine, such a big project has undergone a lot of scrutiny in reviews at multiple levels,” said amphitheater owner Rick McEuchern. ..

McEachern said the traffic survey was conducted as part of city and county approval.

“This was a little longer, or maybe even longer, than we all expected,” McEuchern said.

However, McEachern said the staff is working quickly to fix the problem so that fans and neighbors can move seamlessly.

“Stop ordering the traffic lights and let the traffic flow more freely. Make sure the sign is in the right place so people know where to go and the parking clerk You can be sure that you’re in the right place, and all of this needs tweaking and tweaking, “says Morris.

On Thursday, the amphitheater hosted Greta Van Fleet and traffic was extremely calm.

Thompson’s Station Mayor Corey Napier issued a statement stating that the venue would generate highly desirable sales tax revenues for the community. And, like many other large-scale events, there are delays.

Napier said authorities are working together to provide a solution to the expected congestion on the night of the concert.
