New Mexico has received a $ 1.75 billion ARPA fund for a pandemic bailout. The proceedings allege that Governor Ruhan Grisham “tort” more than $ 600 million in ARPA funds, but did not demand the return of these funds.

The proceedings also quoted Article 4, Article 30 of the New Mexico Constitution, “Funds from the Treasury only if the legislature allocates a budget, except for interest or other payments on public debt. It shall be paid. ” The proceedings also cite state law that states that general funding should be “only in accordance with expenditures approved by the state legislature.”

The New Mexico Parliament has resolved to deposit some of New Mexico’s ARPA funds in reserve. The governor has vetoed the move, saying the legislature has no authority to direct the management of federal funds.
