New Mexico’s indoor mask mandate extended through Oct. 15 – Albuquerque, New Mexico

Albuquerque, New Mexico 2021-09-15 15:44:19 –

Under the Public Health Order, mask requirements apply to all individuals over the age of 2 in all indoor public environments except when eating and drinking. State officials said businesses, places of worship, and other bodies could set stricter requirements at their discretion.

The state reported that the average COVID-19 test positive rate for 7 days dropped from 9% as of August 16th to 6.5% as of September 14th. However, hospitalizations throughout the state have been stable for the past month and there is a shortage of beds.

The Governor may remove or extend the requirement as needed, depending on the analysis of the state health authorities and the medical advisory team. Obligations are valid with a limited number of exceptions, regardless of vaccination status.

State health officials will discuss extended orders during the COVID-19 update at 2:00 pm on Wednesday. NMDOH Facebook page..
