ST. Lewis County, Missouri (KMOV.com)-St. Louis Zoo has named its North Campus facility and announced Thursday that it will be called the St. Louis Zoo Wild Care Park.
The property is almost five times as large as the Forest Park zoo facility.
Eventually, there will probably be 30-40 species, such as rhinos, giraffes, and zebras.
Dr. Jeffrey Bonner, President and CEO of St. Louis Zoo, said: “There is [either] Plan to bring them back, or because they are here, we can plan to bring them back. Sadly, there are many choices. “
The smallest fenced area for animals will be 4 acres.
Visitors to the premises will have more vehicle driving experience compared to the pedestrian friendly Forest Park location.
The 425-acre facility in northern St. Louis County will be open to the public in 2026.
