At around 6:21 am on September 11, 2021, the Fountain Valley Police Department responded to the intersection of Edinger Avenue and Ward Street in a traffic accident involving dark vehicles and pedestrians.
Officers arrived and found an injured male pedestrian injured in the westbound lane of Edinger Avenue.
The vehicle involved escaped from the scene.
Paramedics responded to the scene and pedestrians were taken to a local hospital. The pedestrian was injured and died two days later and was sentenced to death.
Male pedestrian identified as 34 years old Long Tao Of Santa Ana. The victim’s family was notified.
Investigation revealed that the suspect’s vehicle was traveling west on Edinger Avenue towards Ward Street. Witnesses said that while at the pedestrian crossing, pedestrians were walking north on Edinger Avenue at a green walk signal. The suspect’s car ran a red light and attacked a pedestrian on the road. The vehicle did not stop and was finally seen west on Edinger Avenue.
During the days following the collision, traffic inspectors reviewed surveillance footage to identify the vehicle to be hit. The vehicle is probably a dark-colored 1991-1995 Chrysler or Dodge minivan with a damaged left front end.
