Santa Ana, CA (January 13, 2021): Sheriff-Coroner Don Barnes named Jeff Hallock, A 24-year veteran of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office as a new undersheriff. Hallock oversees more than 4,000 people and a $ 1 billion budget and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the department.

Sheriff Hallock was promoted on January 6th with a private badge pinned at Sheriff Headquarters.

“Sheriff Hallock is the perfect leader in serving in good faith and working on a mission given with unwavering work ethic and a deep commitment to improving this sector,” said Sheriff-Coroner Don Burns. “His extensive experience and innovative approach to law enforcement activities help the Sheriff’s Office continue our tradition of providing exemplary services to Orange County.”

Hallock’s previous missions include custody operations, prison planning, patrol operations, investigations, narcotics, internal affairs, and public relations, and he is responsible for public relations.

His work includes his role as the first field training bureau commander, implementing solutions to keep his department at the forefront of change. He served as a spokesperson for several major cases that caught the public’s attention, navigating complexity in a straightforward and transparent way. Most recently, he was an assistant sheriff for field operations and research services, overseeing the department’s response to multiple emergencies in 2020.
